Fiber-To-The-Screen (FTTS)

Lumexis’ advanced technology provides a simple, elegant solution to the challenges of traditional IFE offerings.

Lightest Weight

As demonstrated on both narrow-body and wide-body fleets around the world, FTTS weight per seat is 60% lighter than legacy in-seat IFE systems.

Highest Capacity

The FTTS technology, proving to have the strongest capability with unprecedented numbers, offers unlimited growth in applications and functionality.

Greatest Reliability

FTTS’ triply redundant system architecture comes with multiple servers, a dual fiber optic cable network, and in-seat content storage for ultimate failover.

Optical Fiber Advantages

Due to the immense advantages that fiber optic technology offers, fibers are replacing metal/copper wires in a host of various technologies – telecommunications, military, and now... inflight entertainment.

In addition to being extraordinarily lightweight, fibers have the capability to deliver data and content at an ultra high bandwidth. Furthermore, they may be routed anywhere, they are easy to install, immune to electromagnetic (EMI) and radio frequency interference (RFI), and incredibly durable and flexible.

Employing the brilliance of this technology, Lumexis launched the world’s first fully fiber optic based HDTV IFE system.

What Is Fiber Optic Technology?

Optical fibers are flexible, transparent cords made of a pure glass, or silica, not much wider than human hair.

Fiber optic technology is the transmission of data - via light - between two ends of a fiber.
